Whenever Jordyn is being bad or not listening Nana will ask Mawmaw "Do you want me to black her eye and Mawmaw always says no. Sunday coming back from NOLa Nana asked Mawmaw if she should go black somebody elses eye. (don't remember who they were joking about) to which Toot said I'll go do it Nana, let me, I'm a good eye blacker !

There are small fans all over this house and ceiling fans in most rooms except for Jordyn's room. Tonight eating dinner Pop told Nana he felt cool so she said "turn it off". Pop said he wasn't because it might bring on a dust storm. Nana more than replyed back that she keeps the fan dust free. Pop kept the fan on just in case. But anyway,Toot said I need a roof fan in my room !

Today really was a good day. Pop, Nana, Jordyn and Mawmaw got to visit with sister Bonnie and brother-in-law Pastor Lee. And also stoped at brother Mark's house just long enough to say hi and for them to meet each other. Don't rightly know why but Pop wanted them to meet Mawmaw (Miss Helen ) and Mawmaw to meet them. It's sad but don't even remember if Jordyn and Mark ever met either. We also got to see Buddy and Becky for a few minutes.

Did learn a few things tonight. Do you know what a certain breed of animal is called when it is almost gone from this world? Poppa, when a animal is almost gone from this world it is called a dangerous species. We also learned the name for the hanging light over the table at Denny's.  Out of the blue, as they say (if daddy were here he would ask) (who's they)  Toot said, Poppa, that hanging light is called a sham boo lay.

On I 55 between the two lakes on the way to NOLa today, Toot said, Look at all of the crab boats. Pop said, no Jordyn, that's shrimp boats.  no poppa that's crab boats.  That brought back memories of the time that Pop, Nana and Toot were out eating somewhere and Nana brought Toot a plate of boiled shrimp. She lined up all of the shrimp which still needed to be peeled. Now, let it be known that she had just seen the movie Shark Tales, Pop told her to quit playing and eat her shrimp. Toot said No Poppa I'm going to bring them back to the water and let them go so they can be with their fam a lee

Jordyn had a bad bruise on her arm and shoulder, well really right below were they join.
Poppa ask, Toot, how did you get hurt, what happened? She answered, Poppa, I tripped and hit the TV. It hurt all the way to the bone of my skeleton.
 
    Today would have been Momma's birthday.  How can he not think about her. He is reminded by Lillie and Jordyn. Miss you Ma, more than most people know.

At work, Poppa and two others, a welder a couple of years older and a machine operator / mechanic that's a few years younger. These three are sometimes called the
AARP gang. When not repairing breakdowns they are building equipment and machines you can't go out and buy. Poppa can't remember everything so he keeps a small notebook in his top pocket to help him along. Today, when made fun of about the notebook, Pop pulled it out, held it by his head and speaking to the younger generation said, that's my memory card. I just hold it up to my head and everything comes back to me. All had a good laugh.

    Poppa  and Toot went to the store while Nana rested. Toot was being her normal bad self, wanting everything and getting nothing. Even though he had taken about all two people should have to deal with, a smile and a little laugh that was partially hidden from Toot found its way to Poppa. The red potatoes that Poppa had picked up were too small for him so those went back on the rack. Grabbing a bag that had slightly larger potatoes, Pop said, they're all too small. Toot, watching Poppa and  playing with the scale that was right next to the potatoes asked, Poppa, you gonna measure them? The potatoes are in 5 lbs. bags so there is no need in weighing them. Pop asked why. Toot said "So you can see how fat they are."

  Cheching out, Toot was upset because the only thing in the basket she wanted was a box of corndogs that she put in the basket when Poppa wasn't looking. She was asking "Just one last thing, Poppa" but Poppa still said no. On the way out, Toot being her mad bad pouty self said, "Nobody cares about me." Pop said, I do! Poppa lets you live at his house and does things for you, doesn't he? Toot said I know Poppa but I should be living with my momma. That's how the circle of life is, Poppa. Toot has been watching too many Littlefoot movies.

 Last night Toot asked "Nana can you say a prayer and ask Jesus to not let me have any bad dreams about snakes." Nana said, too much Animal Planet for you and then they prayed.

 

5:30am

Well it's early, it's raining and Poppa thinks it is cold in here. It's not cold outside but Nana has the a/c set on freezing. Maybe she wants us to think it's winter or something. The peace and quiet time is nice but there is still this feeling of turning all the lights on and yelling "WAKE UP, COME ON NOW, LETS GET WITH THE PROGRAM AROUND HERE

Pop went to put the smelly puppies outside but Nana did that already                         Well Nana is up sitting by the fireplace. Poppa got a rip-roaring fire going. When Toot gets up maybe we will do marshmellows with chocolate syrup. Toot doesn't care too much for the graham crackers so we just leave them out. Ah, the good life or so they say.

Everything Toot sees on TV, she wants for Christmas "Hurry Poppa, come see. That's want I want. Can I have one like that." That's what I want Poppa, That's what I'm talking about

Pop got a bunch of wood from this year and it's still green so it doesn't want to burn good.

Kerry went home to Michigan, Maw maw goes home tomorrow and Timmy went to his momma's house. So it's back to Nana, Poppa and Toochie. Sure will be different around here 

 

Poppa and Touchie were coloring tonight. We were almost finished and she looked over to see poopa's page. Toot said "mine kinda don't look so good. Poppa said Yours looks good for a first grader and Poppa's looks good for a old man. Toot said "your not an old man Poppa, You are the coolest man I ever loved. Kids know how and are very good at making points with Poppa

Poppa doesn't like crayons, colored pencils are the best.

Well now, Poppa has missed out on writing about many good and/or funny things.

Did yall know that in the winter Bears and Snakes HARBOR NATE?       and when Pop asked Toot if she had her new drawers on she said "Poppa, boys wear underwear and girls wear panties".

     Poppa keeps a pack of printer paper for Toot to use because she likes to draw    pictures and to practice her ABC's and numbers. Friday night she was sitting next to Pop while drawing. After her second try she said "Poppa you can hang this one up because I'm making a masterpiece".  

     Pop is sitting on the back porch swing (and swinging) trying to use a laptop making a mess of this.

     Pop learned that Toot knows how to call Nana's cell phone and leave a message when Nana doesn't anwser and even got to listen to a song she sang for Nana.

     Pop is not the Leaderman over the weld shop any more                                    (but did last for 9 1/2  yrs.)  Moved to a different dept.  

     Toot wants chicken nuggets and macaroni and cheese all the time. Poppa keeps a supply of both in the freezer because on the days Nana works Pop has to fix her dinner.Saturday Pop asked Toot what she wanted for dinner. Toot grabed her purse and said "I want to go to Canes restaurant. Thats what I want Poppa". We did and while eating Pop said, Toot, you eat so much chicken that you are gonna look like a chicken. Toot said "Poppa look at my legs. They are to big to be a chicken and chickens don't wear shoes"!!  Toot dips her fries in Canes sauce and her chicken in ketchup.

     Toot has a 30" high X 10' round pool but Pop doesn't keep the water treated very good and she doesn't get to swim much. But it's because her ears hurt after being in the water for a while that she is kept out. Nana bought her some kind of little pool with a slide and other stuff. When Pop got home from work Toot showed Pop the box with the picture and said "Poppa that's what I'm talking about. Now that's the perfect pool for me".

     Last summer Toot said "Poppa , I never been to a beach before". So Poppa said Lets go for a ride. We went to Gulfport. Toot played in the water for an hour or two and then we went home. Next weekend Nana has off. Might just be a good Saturday for a ride to Gulfport or Waveland.

     Toot has a Jr. golf club and a bucket of golf balls. Pop has a few clubs too, so we can hit the balls to each other.

     Tonight Toot got one over on Pop. After dinner Pop got up from the table to change the TV back to Toot's show but first went to another channel. Every time the TV went to Pop's channel it jumped right back to Toots channel. After three times Pop discovered that Toot had the other remote control.   Nana and Toot thought that was very funny and so did Pop.

Many moons ago, Pop and Toot were going to the corner store. Toot looked up to see the very big looking full moon and said "Poppa, if I could reach up there that far I would get us a big handfull of cheese". Knowing that Pop likes swiss and Toot likes american Pop said What if it's Pops kind of cheese? Toot said "no way Pop that's the good kind".

5 am, 63 F in the den, 32F outside, a rip roaring fire in the fireplace and it's still cold in here --- cold is like ugly, it goes all the way to the bones.

Been a long time, could say (write) a lot, but like Momma use to say, If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. But sometimes Pop sure feels like busting loose. sometimes it's better to remain silent and let people THINK you are stupid and crazy than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. Need another blog just to --- 

7 am 67 F, 3 cups of coffee  and still cold

A month or so ago, Pop rode by all the past places he has lived in Metairie and Kenner. It's really bad.You won't understand untill you have either lived it or seen it and seeing it isn't good enough to fully understand what people went though and still are going though.  Metro N.O.,La. will never be the same.

Took Jordyn to see Santa. She was so happy, she ran to him and about knocked him down.  When it was time to go he gave her three lollipops.She gave one to Pop, one to Nana and she kept one. Santa said where's mine? Toot gave him hers. He liked that so much, he gave her a hand full. Toot and Pop saw lots of Chirstmas lights while riding to the store back when the lights first started to show up. Toot told Pop "Look at the lights." Pop said they are pretty or something like that without turning his head to look. Toot didn't go for that and got Pop by the chin and the top of his head. While turning his head she said "You didn't look Pop now look at the lights".  Toot seemed happy Chirstmas day. She got a tea set and a lot of play cooking stuff. She loves to play cook and when outside makes mud pies for her and Pop all the time. Around here if you need a plastic bowl, don't look in the cabinet, look in the backyard. It's amazing how long she will sit in the mud and play all by herself making castles and mud pies. Pop wants the dog gone so we can have the backyard again. Toot also got a pair of LOOKERS. You know the things you use to look at things far away.

Nana raised the bed with blocks the store sells. The bed is now too tall for Toot to get in so she stole Pops stepper. Pop was helping her wash her hands in the kitchen after eating a donut and she can't  get her hands far enough back to  wash both hands at the same time. She looked up at Pop and asked "Pop, would you go get my stepper?"  

The last day when Pop got home from work, Toot showed Pop a mark on her leg and said "Pop, a bug bite me. I killed him. I hit him with a bug hitter thingee".  

Toot must have a headache when she says "Pop, my brain hurts".

Pop talked to his sister today. They got their FEMA trailer just three days ago. It's amazing how good of an attitude they have over all that has happened. They lost all the furniture, all cabinets and everthing else that was a foot or so above the floor.
